The 2011 Rosato (100% Sangiovese) presents an elegant pale cherry hue and aromas of sour cherry, wild strawberry, and dried red currant. On the palate it is relatively light-bodied, bright and alive, with a saline, tangy finish and a refined texture that belies its age.
Biondi Santi is one of Italy’s most revered wine dynasties, best known for creating the classic Brunello di Montalcino style. The family’s estate is based at Tenuta Il Greppo, where in addition to their flagship reds they produce a rare rosato (rosé) from younger Sangiovese vines. Their philosophy emphasizes minimal intervention, precision in vineyard work, and respect for fruit purity—traits that carry into their rosato production as well. Franco Biondi Santi introduced the Rosato di Toscana to showcase Sangiovese in pink form: fermented at cool temperatures, matured in stainless steel, and bottled with finesse.
