The 2020 Magari is floral with a perfume of violet, wild raspberry liqueur, candied black cherry, and cedar. The wine is full-bodied but without weight and offers a silky texture. Pure and inviting, with a note of freshly turned soil and, it has a lovely floral perfume that continues through the finish. it is approachable now but will improve over the next 10 to 15 years. ~ Audrey Frick, Jeb Dunnuck.com
The Ca’Marcanda winery is the only winery from the GAJA family that was designed and built from the ground up with Angelo Gaja’s vision and lifetime of experience. The Camarcanda wine derives its name from Ca’Marcanda, the winery. CaMarcanda is the Piedmontese term for “house of endless negotiations” and refers to the many hours that Angelo Gaja spent convincing the property’s previous owners to sell the estate to him. Camarcanda is sourced from one of the stoniest sites of the entire estate, based in Castagneto Carducci in the World famous Bolgheri region on the west coast of Tuscany. The vineyards selected for this bottling are at the base of the hills, composed of 100% Terre Bianche (white soils), primarily limestone and calcareous ancient sea floor fossils. These soils are ideal for producing rich, structured long-lived red wines.
