The 2019 Chianti Classico from Castell’in Villa is a beautifully austere, terroir-driven expression of 100% Sangiovese. Fermented in stainless steel and aged in large neutral oak casks, it offers a textbook profile of traditional Chianti: vibrant, savory, and built for evolution. The 2019 vintage brought excellent growing conditions, producing wines of both energy and balance. In the glass, it opens with aromas of sour cherry, wild herbs, crushed violet, dusty earth, and a subtle hint of leather. On the palate, it is medium-bodied with firm, linear tannins, bright acidity, and a persistent, mineral-driven finish. There’s no makeup here—just Sangiovese in its most honest, unadorned form. While it can be enjoyed now with decanting, this wine truly rewards cellaring over the next 10–15 years. An ideal companion to Tuscan fare such as bistecca alla fiorentina, wild boar ragù, or aged pecorino.

The vineyards extend over eight different sites, reflecting the diversity of the Tuscan countryside in soil types and microclimates. The estate’s viticultural regimen entails hand selection of grapes that are cultivated under strict yield control.
