The 2019 Continuum is arresting: dark ruby to garnet, with rich aromas of lifted red fruit (red currant, wild raspberry), hibiscus and delicate floral notes, plus touches of graphite, wild herbs, and exotic spice. On the palate it’s lush and concentrated—black mulberry, dark chocolate, iron‑rich minerality—with velvety tannins and a supple texture, all wrapped in that hallmark volcanic lift. It has both power and grace: lithe at the edges yet deep and structured enough to age for decades.
Continuum is the ultra‑premium project of Mondavi (the Continuum Estate) located on Sage Mountain, Pritchard Hill. Their site is high elevation (1,300‑1,600 feet), rocky volcanic soils, steep slopes and varying aspects—all forcing the vines to work hard for intense, expressive fruit. The vineyards are estate grown, hand-harvested, sorted carefully, vinified with attention to gentle extraction, and aged ~22 months in French oak (a high percentage new), plus some in concrete/other vessels. The result is meticulous, luxurious wine rooted in terroir complexity, aging potential, and elegance.
