The Rosso di Montalcino 2022 is a vibrant, finely textured expression of Sangiovese from a warm yet balanced vintage. The nose reveals fresh red cherry, raspberry, rose petal, and subtle herbal notes, accented by hints of spice and crushed stone. On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied and energetic, with bright acidity and supple tannins providing lift and structure. Flavors of cranberry, sour plum, and savory earth unfold with clarity and precision. The texture is polished yet lively, emphasizing immediacy without sacrificing depth. The finish is long, fresh, and elegantly persistent—an expressive Rosso that combines approachability with Cupano’s signature refinement.
Cupano is a small, artisanal estate located in the southwestern hills of Montalcino, founded by Lionel Cousin and Ornella Tondini. The property is organically farmed and managed with a deeply hands-on philosophy, emphasizing biodiversity, low yields, and meticulous vineyard work. Cupano is known for combining Burgundian sensitivity with Tuscan terroir, favoring elegance, purity, and precision over mass and extraction. Fermentations are natural, and aging takes place in carefully selected French oak to refine texture without masking site character. Production is extremely limited, and selection is rigorous. The wines are sought after for their balance, aromatic clarity, and capacity to age gracefully.
