The 2022 Puligny-Montrachet Les Combettes 1er Cru is a refined and deeply textured Chardonnay from one of the village’s most prized premier cru vineyards, located near the border with Meursault. Les Combettes is known for producing wines with a distinctive combination of richness and energy, and in the hands of Domaine Leflaive, it becomes a wine of remarkable balance and nuance. The 2022 vintage, marked by warm conditions tempered by timely rains, yielded fruit with excellent ripeness and retained acidity. The wine opens with expressive aromatics of white peach, Meyer lemon, acacia, crushed stone, and lightly toasted hazelnut. On the palate, it is broad yet focused, showing a creamy texture balanced by a precise mineral spine and vibrant citrus notes. Aged for about 12 months in French oak (approximately 20% new), the integration of wood is seamless, allowing the purity of the terroir to shine. The finish is long, saline, and elegant, with lingering notes of chalk, orcha

Domaine Leflaive Description

Domaine Leflaive is one of the most revered names in Burgundy and an undisputed reference for fine white wine worldwide. Based in Puligny-Montrachet, the domaine has been instrumental in defining the region’s benchmark style of Chardonnay—elegant, structured, and deeply expressive of terroir. Under the leadership of the late Anne-Claude Leflaive, the estate became a pioneer of biodynamic viticulture in the region, embracing natural farming practices as early as 1997. Today, Brice de La Morandière continues her legacy, overseeing 24 hectares of meticulously farmed, biodynamic vineyards across Puligny-Montrachet, Meursault, and several grands crus. The domaine’s wines are known for their precision, purity, and longevity, offering an unparalleled expression of Burgundy’s limestone-rich soils. Every parcel is vinified with minimal intervention, and aging takes place in carefully selected oak barrels to enhance, not mask, the character of the site.
