Bursting with juicy red berries, crushed wildflowers, sun-warmed earth, fresh herbs and citrus zest, this bright pink mono-varietal Cabernet Franc Rose looks like spring incarnate. This is an elegant, fresh wine that's surprisingly complex, and there's no question that it over-delivers on its under $20 price point. Deriving from almost forty-year-old Cabernet Franc vines, the grapes for this wine ferment and age in stainless steel in order to maintain a purity of terroir and transparency of grape varietal.
While the Christian Fischer Wine Estate has historical roots that reach back to 1662, this estate snuggled onto the slopes of the "Soober Lingkogel,"a hill in the Vienna Woods, reached prominence in the '80s under the care of its namesake. Christian Fischer came from a long line of casual winemakers, but he wanted to make his family's hobby his profession. After graduating schools for viniculture in Krems and Klosterneuburg, Christian joined his parents at the estate. Christian's passion is to craft Burgundy-caliber red wines at his Austria estate, and his devotion to Zweigelt, Austria's premier red wine grape, embodies his passion, while his estate's success testifies to his ability. The winery has three lines of wines: Classic, Premium and 100 Cases, the rarest and hardest to find. The thermenregion vintner (an ancient winemaking region south of Vienna) Christian Fischer consistently produces long-aging, tannic reds and fresh, pure whites.
