The 2023 Fuligni Rosso di Montalcino Ginestreto is a luminous and classically styled Sangiovese, offering depth and poise that far exceed its designation. Sourced from younger vines and select parcels within the estate’s high-elevation holdings, the wine is fermented with indigenous yeasts and aged for several months in large neutral oak, followed by time in bottle before release. The 2023 vintage brings freshness and clarity, and this Rosso opens with fragrant aromas of sour cherry, wild strawberry, rose petal, thyme, and subtle notes of forest floor and spice. The palate is medium-bodied and vibrant, with fine-grained tannins, bright acidity, and a savory, mineral-tinged finish. While approachable young, it shows the precision and balance typical of Fuligni’s Brunello, making it a true “baby Brunello” in character. Ideal for near-term drinking (2024–2028), it pairs beautifully with grilled meats, tomato-based pastas, or aged pecorino. A benchmark Rosso di Montalcino for

Fuligni Description

Fuligni is one of the most esteemed and historically significant estates in Montalcino, with origins dating back to the late 18th century. Located on the eastern side of the appellation near Montosoli and Il Greppo, the Fuligni estate is known for producing refined, terroir-driven Sangiovese that balances structure and elegance. Under the leadership of Maria Flora Fuligni and now Roberto Fuligni, the estate has steadily earned a reputation for producing some of the region’s most classic, age-worthy Brunelli. The wines are crafted from estate-grown fruit, farmed organically on marl and limestone soils at altitudes between 380 and 450 meters. Vinification combines tradition and precision: fermentation with native yeasts, long maceration, and aging in a mix of large Slavonian oak casks and tonneaux. Even the estate’s Rosso di Montalcino bottling—Ginestreto—receives the same careful attention, and is widely regarded as one of the finest Rossos in all of Tuscany.
