Ornellaia 2022 in the 3L double magnum format is a powerful, structured, and age-worthy interpretation of Bolgheri’s coastal terroir, with the added benefit of slow, graceful aging that comes from large-format bottling. The 2022 growing season was shaped by a dry winter and hot summer, mitigated by maritime breezes and late August rains that helped the grapes reach phenolic ripeness without excess concentration. The final blend typically includes a majority of Cabernet Sauvignon, followed by Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot, vinified separately and matured for 18 months in French oak (70% new). The wine opens with rich, multilayered aromas—blackcurrant, ripe plum, cedar, graphite, dried herbs, and dark chocolate—intertwined with subtle floral notes and warm spice.
