Lemon zest, crushed minerals, white flowers, brioche and almond frame the juicy orchard and succulent stone fruits in this enchanting entry-level Champagne from Pierre Peters. Polished, layered, racy, complex and proffering perfect perlage, this Champagne is a pure delight. The Chardonnay for this Champagne derives from the estate's grand cru vineyards in Cote des Blancs; 40% reserve wine aged with the solera method since 1988, this non-vintage champagne is a blend of more than 15 vintages.
Founded in 1858 as a negociant operation by Gaspar Peters, the Pierre Peters estate began bottling estate wines in 1919, and it formally received its current name in 1944. Helmed by winemaker-owner Rodolphe Peters since 2008, this Champagne estate, headquartered in Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, now spans 47 acres of prime vineyards, with additional holdings in Oger, Avize, Cramant and Chouilly. Pierre Peters has earned a reputation for making Champagnes that blend longevity with attractive, effusive palates. To do this, the Peters winemaking team gives its Champagnes a full malolactic fermentation with relatively warm temperatures, a method of managing the naturally high acidity of Le Mesnil-sur-Oger grapes. The resulting wines are full-bodied, beautiful Champagnes that are expressive and nuanced, certain to please connoisseurs of France's most famous sparkling wine.
