On the palate, it’s medium-bodied yet deeply expressive, delivering flavors of red currant, pomegranate, sweet spices, and tobacco, supported by ultra-fine tannins and a vibrant spine of acidity. There’s an almost ethereal clarity to the wine, with a lingering, mineral-tinged finish that unfolds slowly and delicately.
Nestled in the southern reaches of Montalcino near Castelnuovo dell’Abate, Sesti is a boutique estate revered for its soulful, artisanal wines and biodynamic philosophy. Founded in the 1990s by Giuseppe Maria Sesti, a scholar of ancient astronomy and lunar cycles, the estate blends deep respect for tradition with a unique, almost spiritual connection to nature. Today, his daughter Elisa Sesti oversees much of the winemaking, continuing the legacy with a thoughtful, hands-on approach. The estate’s vineyards surround the Castello di Argiano, a historic site rich in character and elevation. The soils are predominantly galestro and limestone, and farming follows organic and biodynamic practices, with no chemical intervention.
