The 2021 Titolo has some grip and muscle that screams Aglianco from Mount Vulture. The generous palate delivers nuances of black cherries, plum, wild berries, black licorice, violets, grilled herbs, tobacco, and crushed rocks. There are subtle cool hints of smoke, pepper and graphite signifying the influence from the volcanic soils of the vineyard. This is a strong vintage alongside the 2019 and 2020, there is freshness and vibrancy, yet it is all wrapped in a plush velvet jacket. Fun wine that showcases its terroir with approachability and age-ability.
When he began producing simple wines on this land, Generoso Fucci was still a tenant farmer of Villa Rotondo; but in 1970 he seized an opportunity to make it his own. He divided the land with the Paternoster family and started the estate that is now run by his grandson, Nicola, and named for Nicola's daughter Elena. The three hectares currently planted with vines are in the viticultural nucleus of Vulture, where the Fucci family now produces Aglianico del Vulture Titolo, one of southern Italys greatest wines.
