The 2021 Barolo Rocche di Castiglione is a stunning, site-specific expression of Nebbiolo from one of the most revered vineyards in the Barolo appellation. Located in Castiglione Falletto, Rocche is prized for its steep slope, southeastern exposure, and sandy-limestone soils, which yield wines of aromatic lift, elegance, and refined structure. The 2021 vintage brought a return to classicism, with excellent conditions for preserving acidity and building nuance. Oddero’s expression was fermented with native yeasts and macerated traditionally, followed by aging in large Slavonian oak for about 30 months. The wine opens with a finely detailed bouquet of rose petals, red cherry, orange zest, crushed herbs, and hints of sweet spice and iron. On the palate, it is medium-bodied, with filigreed tannins, vivid acidity, and a long, mineral finish. Oddero is one of the historic names of Barolo, with roots in the region dating back to the 18th century. Today, the estate is run by Mariacristina Oddero and her daughter Isabella, who have continued to elevate the winery through a combination of deep respect for tradition and modern precision.
