Giuseppe Quintarelli is the Veneto’s most significant producer, renowned for his mythical and cellar-worthy Amarone, Recioto, and cult sensation Alzero. Indeed, in the genre of Amarone, Quintarelli’s work constitutes the original benchmark. Although his former protégé, Romano dal Forno, has attained a similar nadir, he learned what Amarone could be through the “Master of the Veneto,” and achieved standard-bearer status through a different philosophical paradigm.Quintarelli is guided by his own traditionalist principles, not by the market. He is emphatic about the art of wine and that it cannot be manufactured in a lab. As he recently explained to Sergio, “The fundamental problem in wine today is that too many producers ‘hurry’ to make their wines: they hurry the fruit in the vineyard and they hurry the vinification and rush to bottle.
